America Reads Challenge:  This site provides resources to communities to help ensure that children can read by the end of third grade.  Includes a resource kit and several neat activities that kids will enjoy.

Bluebonnet Award Books:  See the current list of books nominated for the Texas Bluebonnet Award Program.

Book Adventure:  Free reading motivation program for children in grades K-8.  Children take multiple choice quizzes on the books they've read offline and earn points and prizes for their literary successes. 

Britannica and Ebsco Databases:  Provides instant access to encyclopedias, as well as high quality online learning materials developed by teachers and curriculum experts.  For login and password information, contact a classroom teacher or the librarian.

Caldecott Medal Books:  The Caldecott Medal is awarded annually by the American Library Association to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children published in the United States during the previous year.

Children's Authors & Illustrators: Search alphabetically for a comprehensive list of authors and illustrators to see their profiles, photos, and work samples.

FunBrain:  This site has a multitude of activities and games for children, along with parent and teacher links.

Newbery Medal Books:  The Newbery Medal is awarded annually by the American Library Association for the most distinguished children's book published the previous year. 

PBS Kids:  This U.S. Department of Education website has stories, games, music and other activities featuring favorite PBS characters.

Scholastic: Winner of the Webby Award and People's Choice Award for the Best Kids Site in 2000, this site offers online learning activities, classroom-tested online curriculum, and educational products.

Sports Illustrated For Kids:  This fun site is an online counterpart to the magazine and has the latest sports news and games just for kids. 

Starfall:  This learn-to-read website is offered free as a public service and is helpful for K-2 beginning readers.
